Senior Quality Engineer – AS9100 / 8D / Root Cause

The Opportunity 
We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join a well-established precision engineering company supplying the aerospace sector.

 
This role will support the Quality Manager in maintaining the company’s Business Management System (BMS) while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

 
The successful candidate will take ownership of quality investigations, 8D problem-solving activities, internal audits, and customer quality support, while acting as the first point of escalation for significant quality issues.

 
 What You’ll Be Doing (Day-to-Day) 

•  Leading 8D investigations and implementing corrective actions
  
  

•  Carrying out root cause analysis using tools such as Fishbone and 5 Whys
  
  

•  Conducting Gemba walks to identify improvement opportunities
  
  

•  Acting as the first escalation point for serious quality issues
  
  

•  Supporting customer, internal, and third-party audits
  
  

•  Carrying out internal and supplier audits
  
  

•  Reviewing engineering drawings and customer specifications
  
  

•  Supporting contract reviews and customer requirements
  
  

•  Providing quality guidance across production and engineering teams
  
  

•  Supporting the maintenance of the Business Management System
  
  

 

 
 Key Responsibilities 

•  Ensure the timely completion of 8D reports and corrective actions
  
  

•  Support and maintain compliance with AS9100 and ISO9001 standards
  
  

•  Lead problem resolution activities across the business
  
  

•  Support continuous improvement initiatives through shop-floor engagement
  
  

•  Provide quality support to production, engineering, and other departments
  
  

•  Ensure company procedures, policies and quality systems are followed
  
  

 

 
 Essential Experience 

•  Experience working as a Senior Quality Engineer or Quality Engineer within manufacturing
  
  

•  Strong experience completing 8D investigations
  
  

•  Knowledge of root cause analysis tools (Fishbone, 5 Whys etc.)
  
  

•  Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  
  

•  Experience supporting quality systems and continuous improvement activities
  
  

 

 
 Desirable Experience 

•  Experience working with AS9100 or ISO9001 quality management systems
  
  

•  Experience conducting internal or supplier audits
  
  

•  Experience with PFMEA, PPAP or APQP methodologies
  
  

•  Experience analysing quality data and metrics
