Technical Support Manager / Building Surveyor – South West Region

£52,000 + £5,740 car allowance • Field‑based • Hybrid working • 36 hours

Please contact Matthew Lovegrove at RGB Recruitment for further information.

Bring your building expertise into a role where every project you support helps improve homes, buildings and communities across the South West. This is an opportunity to join a respected public‑sector‑focused procurement and technical organisation, working closely with local authorities, social landlords and public bodies to ensure construction projects are delivered to the highest standards.

This field‑based position blends technical surveying knowledge, client engagement and on‑site project support. You’ll work across the region, with weekly time in the Exeter office and the autonomy to manage your own diary.

The Role

As Technical Support Manager, you’ll be the trusted technical link between clients, contractors and internal teams. Your work will span a wide range of construction and refurbishment programmes, including:

•             Providing technical guidance throughout building projects

•             Visiting sites to monitor progress, quality and compliance

•             Validating technical and pricing compliance against framework requirements

•             Supporting clients with specifications, procurement routes and project delivery

•             Building strong relationships with stakeholders and appointed companies

•             Feeding regional insight into the development of future frameworks

•             Maintaining accurate records and supporting national best practice

About You

This role is ideal for someone with a Surveying or Construction Project Management background who enjoys variety, autonomy and client interaction. You’ll bring:

•             Experience managing construction or building projects from feasibility to completion

•             Strong technical understanding of construction methods and project management

•             Confidence working face‑to‑face with clients and contractors

•             Knowledge of public sector procurement (desirable but not essential)

•             Excellent communication, organisation and analytical skills

•             Experience writing specifications and pricing schedules (advantageous)

•             A degree or equivalent experience in Building Surveying or a related discipline

What’s on Offer

•             £52,000 salary + £5,740 car allowance

•             Highly attractive pension scheme

•             34 days holiday plus bank holidays

•             Hybrid working with weekly office time in Exeter

•             £1,000 annual training budget (post‑probation)

•             £300 wellbeing allowance

•             Private healthcare and enhanced family leave (post‑probation)

•             Volunteering day, employee discounts and more

This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong, people‑focused professional to step into a role with purpose, influence and long‑term development. If you’re ready to use your surveying expertise to support better buildings and better outcomes across the South West, this role offers the perfect platform.
