Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Plymouth

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of works, an excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction company on a permanent basis. The business operates across a range of sectors including Education, Commercial, Industrial, and Heritage. This role will be primarily office-based, with regular site visits and client meetings in the surrounding areas. It is ideally suited to a recent graduate or someone nearing completion of a Quantity Surveying degree, as well as individuals looking to take the next step in their career within the construction industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual to gain valuable experience and develop within a supportive and established team. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the commercial team in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation
  • Undertake quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities (BOQs)
  • Support the procurement of subcontractors, suppliers, and materials in line with project specifications and budgets
  • Monitor and track project costs, including variations, change orders, and progress payments
  • Collaborate with the project team to review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier agreements
  • Assist with the valuation of works and certification of subcontractor payments in line with contractual terms
  • Attend site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance, identifying potential issues where necessary
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including contracts, correspondence, and financial reports
Requirements:
  • Degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • A proactive, adaptable approach with a willingness to learn
  • Full UK driving licence
