Vacuum Coater (Trainee)
Location: Wrexham

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: Days (training) → Permanent Nights

Pay: £14.20 (days) | £15.77 (nights)

 
Overview 
We are currently recruiting for a Vacuum Coater (Trainee) to join a growing manufacturing team in Wrexham.

 
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with machine operating experience who are looking to develop new skills in a specialist environment. No prior vacuum coating experience is required, as full training will be provided.

 
This role would particularly suit individuals with experience in CNC operation, laser cutting, press operation, or similar technical/machining roles.

 
 Key Information 

    • No previous coating experience required – full training provided

    • 1-month training period on day shifts

    • Permanent night shifts after training

    • 12-hour shift pattern

    • Hands-on technical role in a manufacturing environment

    • Tool test required at interview stage

     
 
Shift Pattern 
Training Period (First Month):

    • Day shifts: 6:00am – 6:00pm
After Training:

    • Permanent night shifts: 6:00pm – 6:00am 

 Pay Rates 

    • £14.20 per hour (day shift during training)

    • £15.77 per hour (night shift after training)

     
 
 Role Responsibilities 

    • Operating vacuum coating machinery in line with production requirements

    • Setting up and monitoring equipment to ensure quality standards are met

    • Handling components and materials with care and precision

    • Using hand tools to assist with preparation and finishing processes

    • Following work instructions and health & safety procedures at all times

    • Carrying out basic machine checks and reporting any faults

    • Working as part of a team to meet production targets

     
 
 Requirements 

    • Previous experience as a machine operator (essential)

    • Experience using hand tools

    • Basic IT skills (email, Microsoft Word & Excel)

    • Strong attention to detail and quality

    • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and transition onto permanent nights

    • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team

  • A practical tool test will be conducted on the day (mandatory)
