Location: Hybrid – 3 days on site
Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 + excellent benefits
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer to join a major infrastructure organisation delivering large-scale capital projects across the water and wastewater sector. This role offers the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most complex and high-value engineering programmes, with projects typically ranging from £30m to £200m+.
As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and assurance across major capital projects, ensuring engineering solutions are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory and organisational standards.
You will work closely with project managers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required technical and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assurance across capital delivery projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Support the development of engineering solutions that balance innovation, value, resilience, safety, and risk management.
- Work collaboratively with contractors and consultants to ensure compliance with technical, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure engineering solutions are buildable, operable, maintainable, and deliver strong whole-life value.
- Support the Project Manager in securing technical approvals and governance from key internal stakeholders.
- Manage and respond to technical queries raised during project delivery.
- Review and verify evidence from contractors and consultants to ensure compliance with design and construction requirements.
- Carry out technical audits and assessments throughout the project lifecycle, including pre-construction, during construction, and post-completion.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations including CDM responsibilities.
- Support effective change management to minimise cost and schedule impacts while maintaining safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Process Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Significant experience working in a technical engineering role within major infrastructure or capital projects.
- Experience delivering complex engineering projects through multiple stages of the project lifecycle.
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to support decision-making.
- Broad engineering knowledge with experience working across multidisciplinary teams.
- Commercial awareness and a practical understanding of engineering contracts.
- Strong focus on safety, quality, environmental standards, and risk management.
- Highly motivated, resilient, and able to perform under pressure in large-scale project environments.
