Job Description

Pertemps are delighted to be working with our public sector client to recruit a Housing Assistant on a temporary basis.

Role: Housing Assistant – Rent Arrears & Housing Management Support
Location: Edinburgh West (fully office based)
Hours:
  • Monday – Thursday: 08:30 – 17:00 (65-minute break)
  • Friday: 08:30 – 15:55 (65-minute break)
  • 36 hours per week

Pay Rate: £14.02 per hour
Duration: Temporary ongoing
Start Date: Immediate

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Chasing rent arrears through phone calls and letters
  • Supporting Housing Officers with rent arrears and housing management tasks
  • Attending visits with Housing Officers when required
  • Following up with tenants to arrange gas meter readings
  • Ordering removals when properties become vacant
  • Raising job requests for maintenance works and garden clearances
  • Updating housing systems with accurate notes and information
  • Taking minutes at meetings when required
  • Providing general administrative support to the locality housing team
  • Handling tenant enquiries in a professional and supportive manner

What We’re Looking For
  • Previous administrative experience (essential)
  • Confidence communicating with customers, including around sensitive rent matters
  • Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail
  • Ability to pick up systems and processes quickly
  • Comfortable working as part of a team in a busy office environment
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and internal systems
  • A calm, professional and customer-focused approach
Desirable:
  • Experience in housing, rent arrears, income recovery or local authority services
