Job Description

HSE Recruitment are working with an exciting brand to find them a new Health & Safety Manager at their Middleton warehouse and fulfilment centre.

Reporting into the General Manager and sitting on the senior leadership team, this key appointment is responsible for creating and leading the health and safety strategy on site.

About the role:
  • The business has changed significantly in the last12 months, with a brand new SLT and GM.
  • Health and Safety is currently a standalone role but growth in the future is possible and there is a career path available beyond this site for the right person.
  • There are circa 130 headcount and it runs a 7 day, 8am-6pm shift pattern.
  • We are looking for a problem solver, who will use their own initiative to get things done. The General Manager has an ethos of ‘extreme ownership and accountability’ so you need to thrive in this environment.
  • H&S has historically been managed in a silo without input from other departments or ownership being passed to the staff; this needs to change.
  • The end goal is to be the centre of excellence within the group so this person’s task will be to ensure there are robust, practical H&S processes and procedures in place, lay that foundation of best practice but then coach, mentor and educate the staff to have ownership of safety.
  • This is a long term strategy which requires a long term vision and plan of how to get there.

What we are looking for-

  • NEBOSH Certificate level qualification as a minimum but ideally Diploma level qualification in H&S.
  • Background working in a logistics, warehouse or D2C environments would be ideal but moving away from that, we could open it up to manufacturing.
  • Someone who can look at H&S from a strategic perspective, who is technically strong but is still hands on and happy to roll their sleeves up. This is a long term behavioural and cultural change that requires a lot of coaching, mentoring, and working with the staff.
  • Someone ambitious and driven, who will be self-motivated and who will get things done.
  • Be able to work at pace.
  • Solutions focused and a good problem solver.
  • Resilient and able to manage change, be that change agent.

Salary is up to £60,000.
