Senior Fire Safety Consultant

Location: Home-based with regular travel across London and the South East (occasional travel/overnights elsewhere)
Contract: Permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: £45,000–£55,000, dependent on experience and qualifications

The role
We’re seeking an experienced fire safety professional to provide expert risk management and compliance support to a nationwide property management portfolio. You’ll act as the fire safety lead within a Health & Safety consultancy team—keeping accreditations current, updating templates, and ensuring alignment with evolving legislation and standards.
Once established, you’ll deliver a planned programme of fire risk assessments and associated compliance documentation to agreed KPIs, while mentoring colleagues to build their capability in fire risk assessment and fire safety practice.

What you’ll be doing
  • Serve as the fire safety lead for the consultancy team, reviewing legislative and standards changes and communicating updates effectively.
  • Develop and maintain report templates; oversee team accreditations and certifications (including BAFE SP205).
  • Meet KPI expectations for visit scheduling, report quality, turnaround and completion.
  • Mentor consultants and design/deliver fire safety training to the wider business.
  • Spot and develop new fee-earning opportunities.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across Property Management and related UK teams to ensure an integrated approach and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide clear, consistent reporting to line management.
  • Initiate proactive, best-practice improvements that support a best-in-class service.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties aligned to the position.

What you’ll bring
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior fire safety role, ideally within Property or Facilities Management (desirable).
  • Recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification (essential) and third-party accreditation/registration on a recognised assessor register (e.g., IFSM / IFE) (essential).
  • Experience as a BAFE SP205 validator, including establishing/maintaining certification (desirable).
  • A recognised H&S qualification at Level 3+ (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate) (desirable).
  • Strong, current knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and standards (essential).
  • Experience auditing against ISO management standards (desirable).
  • Understanding of fire engineering principles and fire strategy development (desirable).
  • Excellent communication, decision-making and negotiation skills; strong interpersonal and influencing capability.
  • Sharp analytical skills and high attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to plan site programmes to a fixed schedule and produce timely, high-quality reports.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
  • Comfortable working with delegated authority and operating independently.
  • IT-literate, with experience of compliance platforms and professional report writing.
  • Relevant professional memberships/qualifications (e.g., IOSH).
