Job Description

Sheridan Maine is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Management Accountant to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong technical accounting knowledge to be responsible for delivering accurate reporting, supporting decision-making, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to process improvements across the business.

This is a hybrid role offering flexibility, but to ensure smooth collaboration with the team and regular on-site requirements, applicants must be based in Dorset or Hampshire.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and support the production of annual statutory accounts
  • Develop budgets and forecasts to support business planning
  • Produce and review financial reports, liaising with budget holders and other stakeholders to discuss results
  • Maintain up-to-date technical accounting knowledge to ensure accurate, standards-compliant reporting
  • Ensure all reporting deadlines are met consistently
  • Manage the workload and development of assistant management accountants, reviewing their work for accuracy
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and journal processing, including accruals and prepayments
  • Investigate financial systems to identify and correct errors
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide ad-hoc reporting and financial insights
 
Experience & Qualifications:
 
  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification (or actively studying towards one) is essential
  • Strong all-round IT skills with advanced Excel proficiency
  • Proven track record in preparing monthly management accounts, annual budgets, and periodic forecasts, providing insight to support strategic decision-making
  • Experienced in collaborating with budget holders, department heads, and directors
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, and develop junior team members, reviewing their work and supporting professional growth
  • Confident team player, able to work across multiple functions to achieve business objectives
  • Flexible, proactive, and self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
