Hours: 37 hours per week / Monday-Friday, 09:00am-17:30pm
Assignment: Temporary position from October 2025 - February 2026
Pay: £13.26 per hour
About the Role
Pertemps are currently recruiting for a proactive and detail-driven Administrative Support Officer to join the Highways Service team, working on behalf of our local authority client.
This pivotal role supports the Council in securing essential grant funding by coordinating and submitting statutory returns. You'll collaborate with a range of officers to gather and organise critical data, while also playing a key part in managing defect reports and public enquiries - ensuring the service meets its statutory obligations and delivers to high standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with internal teams to gather data for statutory returns
- Communicate with the public via email, phone, and in writing
- Support the management of defect cases and service enquiries
- Check applications, assess evidence, and produce documents
- Maintain accurate records and update internal systems
- Book appointments and guide customers through application processes
- Handle sensitive data and financial transactions securely
- Suggest improvements to enhance service delivery
- Provide general administrative support across departments
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
- GCSEs (A*-C / 9-4) in English and Maths or equivalent
- Willingness to undertake relevant training
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 or 3
- Customer care training
- Basic understanding of relevant policies and legislation
Essential Experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Confident in communicating with customers across multiple channels
- Strong administrative background with knowledge of office procedures
- Skilled in managing workload and meeting deadlines
- Experience maintaining accurate records and data
Desirable
- Experience in process improvement initiatives
