Job Description
What you will be doing as an Inventory Distribution Manager
- You will manage all Inventory & Supply driver performance within DRDC and any additional resources following the Water Networks transformation.
- Manage daily allocation of drivers and vehicles, keeping the daybook up to date to ensure there is an audit trail of which driver is driving which vehicle at all times.
- You will be the main point of contact to ensure all driving requirements across the team of drivers are managed and delivered.
- Ensure all OOH driving is captured and input into the daybook as soon as it is available.
- Ensure schedules are maintained and servicing of vehicles is adhered to, and, where necessary, provide resilience for backup for maintenance and VORs in liaison with wider TW stakeholders.
- Ensure all lifting equipment is compliant and in date. (LOLER 98)
- Provide adequate training for all Inventory & Supply drivers to ensure they are in line and abreast with current legislation.
- At the end of each day, ensure fleet vehicles are compliant and ready for use, and any defects are recorded and actioned.
- Ensure the safe and secure loading and unloading of vehicles through appropriate training and checks.
- Ensure compliance with transport legislation, including drivers’ hours regulations and the Working Time Directive, in line with the O’ license legislation and company procedures.
- Ensure that all tacho infringements are debriefed and logged on Vision.
- Ensure all speeding events are acknowledged, and action against repeat offenders is taken.
- Embed a safe and fuel-efficient approach to driving to minimise the risk to yourself, your team and other road users and to optimise vehicle running costs.
- You will be accountable for the safe and secure parking of all vehicles under your charge.
- Undertake periodic driver assessments and relevant refresher training.
- Ensure maximum availability of the driver force with minimal overlap of holidays.
- Ensure any overtime is checked against tacho and vehicle data before approval.
- Provide support to the Distribution Centre Manager with the day-to-day running of the warehouse function. (goods in/out, SAP housekeeping, H&S, stock taking, supervision of Warehouse. operatives and daily workload)
What you should bring to the role
- You will have a full, valid UK Class 1/HGV licence with no more than 6 penalty points and no DR or IN convictions.
- You will have experience driving LGVS/HGVs and have a full driver CPC and a valid Driver Tachograph card.
- Previous experience in managing drivers and their performance is essential, as is extensive knowledge of driving and operating MHE and Mounted Cranes. (HIABS)
- You will have demonstrable knowledge of Transport law and Road Traffic Act, a working knowledge of Drivers Hours‘ Domestics and European rules and Working Time regulations, excellent driving skills and road safety knowledge.
- Intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Offering between £50,000 to £52,000 per annum, depending on experience and skills.
- 26 days of annual leave.
