Job Description

The Incident Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in crafting communication strategies and leading a team of specialists to ensure that all external communications are executed to the highest standards during and following incidents. Additionally, this role is essential in facilitating the coordination of aftercare services and follow-up communications post-incident.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract

What you'll be doing as an Incident Communications Manager
Bring in best-practice for incident communications - To bring proven experience of incident comms and ensure an integrated approach across operations, retail, external affairs and other area involved in live incidents.

Leading a team - Giving clear guidance on communications plans for operational incidents for the team to create a consistent tone for how we speak to customers and stakeholders.

Developing team competencies - Taking a newly formed team through a 12-month development journey so they can become a standalone function without the need for day-to-day guidance on how incident communications should operate.

Professional Standards & Development - Closely integrate as part of pan-TW professional communications community, actively working to ensure real-time external communications are aligned to required standards, and driving continuous personal development.

Identification of real-time external communication needs – Understand and assess the external communication requirements arising from emerging and real-time operational incidents issues.

Incident Leadership - Lead and coordinate external stakeholder, and press office resource, acting as Public Information Office Control Tower during daytime working hours (0900-17:00).

What you should bring to the role?
  • Experience of working in external communications in a fast-moving, regulated industry.
  • Can demonstrate an ability to take complex information and turn it into easily understandable language.
  • Confident in working with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify, escalate and mitigate emerging risks as appropriate to protect the reputation and interests of the business and colleagues.
  • Provide input to the business to support delivery of projects or where appropriate deliver projects and initiatives within relevant business areas relating to operational improvements.

  • Competitive salary of £65,000 - £75,000 per annum depending on experience.
