Job Description
This role will also play a vital part in maintaining and managing the automation pipeline, coaching stakeholders, and supporting the delivery of fit-for-purpose products that add tangible value to Thames Water.
What you’ll be doing as an Automation Analyst
- Support the creation and maintenance of a structured automation pipeline, ensuring all solutions pass discovery, design, and sign-off stages before development.
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical insight to support automation solution design.
- Create high-quality solution documentation and coaching material to support digital product delivery and adoption.
- Collaborate across agile teams to deliver automation solutions using various technologies.
- Provide expert input into product design and development, ensuring solutions meet business needs and technical standards.
- Work across a range of automation platforms, including Blue Prism, iRPA, and Power Platform, with a willingness to learn others as needed.
- Support and promote best practices in automation delivery, including DevOps principles, Agile methodologies, and test-driven development.
- Analyse problems and identify opportunities for continuous improvement, offering solutions that enhance speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Ensure alignment with service level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and delivery timelines.
- Operate in a solution-focused manner, especially in areas of ambiguity, and demonstrate the ability to navigate complex business requirements.
Working pattern – 36 hours Monday to Friday.
What you should bring to the role
- Experience in automation solution discovery, design, and documentation.
- Proven ability to work in a DevOps environment with exposure to automation pipelines and continuous integration/delivery.
- Working knowledge of at least one automation platform (e.g. Blue Prism, iRPA, Power Platform), with a desire to upskill in others.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working with agile development teams to deliver high-quality digital solutions.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including user stories, continuous testing, and test-driven development (TDD).
- Understanding of software development lifecycle practices, including quality assurance and product execution.
- Some experience using Azure DevOps for task tracking and collaboration.
- Knowledge of the wider Thames Water organisation and the ability to leverage internal networks.
- A proactive mindset with excellent problem-solving skills and a drive for continuous improvement.
- Competitive salary up to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays)
