Job Description

From electronic security systems to remote monitoring and control, OT underpins our ability to keep taps flowing and toilets flushing, 24/7.

We are now looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our OT Projects team and play a pivotal role in delivering critical Electronic Security Systems (ESS) projects across our water and wastewater operations.

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Project Engineer
As a Senior Project Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of OT security projects, including:
  • Leading the planning, execution and handover of electronic security systems, CCTV, intruder detection, and associated network infrastructure.
  • Providing technical leadership and engineering oversight, ensuring designs meet standards, regulations, and cyber security requirements.
  • Managing budgets, tracking financial performance, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, safely, and to specification.
  • Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders (Operations, IT, Asset Management) and managing external suppliers and contractors.
  • Upholding Thames Water’s high standards of safety, quality and compliance across all project activities.
Base location: STW site nearest to your location - Hybrid
Working hours: 36 hours, Monday to Friday

What you should bring to the role
The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role is:
  • Extensive experience in project engineering or project management in Operational Technology or Electronic Security Systems, preferably in a regulated industry.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, or Control Systems (or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of electronic security systems (CCTV, access control, intruder detection) and OT cyber security principles.
  • Experience managing stakeholders at all levels, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to problem solve, make balanced decisions, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems for report writing and collating information and data into reports.
  • Technical understanding of the Genetec security product.
  • Full UK driving licence is a requirement for this role.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have or bring are:
  • Knowledge of the water/utilities sector or similar regulated industry.
  • Project management certifications (PRINCE2, PMP, APM).
  • Experience managing project budgets and supplier performance.
  • Experience of customer (internal & external) relationship management.
