Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team and become a subject matter expert in infrastructure charges.  The role offers the opportunity to work with other water companies in receiving and processing clean connection data and resolving customer queries following invoicing.

What you’ll be doing as a Connections Analyst
We are seeking a Connections Analyst to join our team either in central Reading, Berkshire or Walnut Court, Swindon.

We’re looking for someone to manage infrastructure charges billing for Thames Water’s waste services, working closely with Water Only Companies (WOCs) and external customers.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for raising accurate invoices promptly upon receiving the required data. But it’s more than just billing—you’ll also help shape and strengthen partnerships with WOCs, ensuring a smooth and efficient exchange of information that supports our operational success.

  • Analyse the data supplied to provide an estimate of waste infrastructure charge income.  Monitor the amount invoiced for the release of accruals.  Answer customer queries and payment disputes in relation to these charges.  Report on any bad debt arising.
  • Cover the collation, production and issue quarterly Licence Condition D reporting to external water companies so that Thames Water satisfies its obligations under Licence Conditions C & D.
  • Assist with customer queries, explaining our requirements to accept payment terms in arrears.  Support the maintenance of and regularly review a register of accepted security under guidance from the Connections Manager.
  • Support with production of the annual statement for customer deposits, including processing refunds, dealing directly with customer enquiries on the balances, monitoring cash payments and debt.
  • Assist with the monthly monitoring of bulk schemes for Thames Water delivered service connections and self-lay service connections.  Feeding into the month-end reviews meeting the finance month-end deadlines.
  • Support the Connections Manager in the collation of data for unit rate reviews and work mix analysis.
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
  • Excellent standards of accuracy and attention to detail
  • High level of numeracy, data analysis and reporting
  • Customer handling experience
  • Experienced in raising invoices, refunds and creating and running reports
  • Extensive administration experience
  • Strong PC skills, particularly MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
Extra qualities that would be a great fit for our team:
  • Experience in SAP, Data analysis, Navision, and CRM
