Job Description

This is a great opportunity to join the planning and scheduling team at Thames Water. As a Planner, you will play a key role in making sure work is planned efficiently and delivered smoothly, supporting field teams and helping to keep services running for our customers.

What you’ll be doing as a Planner
  • Building and managing daily and future work plans for field teams to make the best use of available resources.
  • Working closely with supervisors, managers, and operational teams to coordinate and prioritise work.
  • Liaising with local councils to secure permits and approvals for planned activity.
  • Submitting, planning, and tracking leakage and customer-related work.
  • Managing outstanding and backlog work to ensure it is tightly controlled and completed on time.
  • Keeping customers and stakeholders informed throughout the lifecycle of the job and escalating issues where needed.

Working hours: 36 hours per week, 8 am till 4 pm or 7:30 am till 3:30 pm

Base location: Reading, Kemble Court, RG2 6AD – hybrid, with 2 days a week in the office

What you should bring to the role
  • Experience in a planning and scheduling role would be highly advantageous.
  • An understanding of Streetworks or traffic management would be beneficial, but training will be provided.
  • Experience or awareness of systems such as Salesforce, GIS, or planning tools is advantageous but not essential
  • A proactive, organised approach and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders.
