37 hours per week | Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm
Hybrid working – 2 days office-based plus remote working and site visits

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in strengthening governance, improving internal controls, and supporting the delivery of high-quality public services.



The Role

As a Senior Auditor, you will deliver a professional, high-quality audit service to internal and external stakeholders. You’ll support the Chief Internal Auditor in providing assurance on internal control systems that underpin strategic and operational risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, scope and deliver risk-based audits independently
  • Produce clear, evidence-based audit reports with practical recommendations
  • Provide professional advice and consultative support to senior stakeholders
  • Monitor the Audit mailbox and Whistleblowing hotline
  • Contribute to the development of audit plans and programmes
  • Review client working practices to ensure compliance with Financial Regulations, Standing Orders and best practice
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of professional audit standards and emerging risks


About You

We’re looking for a confident and experienced auditor who can hit the ground running.

You will have:
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an auditing role
  • Experience working with senior officers (e.g. Service Directors)
  • The ability to independently scope and deliver audits
  • Strong analytical, reporting and stakeholder management skills
  • Ideally, experience within a local authority or public sector environment
