A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a Year 2 classroom. This is a long-term role via the agency, ideal for someone passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive academically and socially.

This vibrant school has a strong focus on nurturing the whole child and provides excellent support for staff, with a collaborative leadership team and experienced SENCO.

The Role

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with additional learning needs within a Year 2 setting.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Supporting children with communication, learning, or social/emotional needs
  • Adapting classroom activities to ensure pupils can access learning
  • Delivering targeted interventions in literacy and numeracy
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience working with primary-aged children, ideally KS1
  • Has supported pupils with SEND (e.g., ASD, ADHD, speech & language needs, SEMH)
  • Is patient, nurturing, and confident managing behaviour positively
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with children
  • Works well as part of a team and takes initiative
  • Holds a relevant qualification (Level 2/3 TA, childcare, or similar – desirable but not essential)
