📍 Location: Westminster, London
💰 Pay Rate: £31.02 per hour (scope to negotiate)
⏰ Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9am–5pm)
🏠 Working Arrangement: Office-based with community visits
📅 Contract Type: Temporary

About the Role
Westminster City Council is seeking a skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join their Adult Social Care team. This role involves delivering high-quality, person-centred interventions to support residents with complex needs to live safely and independently in their homes.
You’ll carry out functional assessments, prescribe equipment, and recommend adaptations to reduce risk, promote independence, and improve quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a complex caseload, including clients with multiple physical, cognitive, or environmental challenges.
  • Conduct home visits to assess functional needs and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Complete manual handling and risk assessments, creating safe handling plans using hoists, slings, and transfer aids.
  • Prescribe and oversee major adaptations (e.g. level access showers, ramps, stairlifts, through-floor lifts) in collaboration with housing and DFG teams.
  • Provide clear clinical reasoning and justification for equipment and adaptations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Liaise with contractors, surveyors, and housing officers to ensure adaptations are safe, suitable, and effective.
  • Support timely hospital discharges and prevent hospital admissions through prompt intervention.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate case records and contribute to safeguarding enquiries and funding panels.
  • Provide supervision and peer support to junior team members, promoting safe practice and reflective learning.
  • Act as the main point of contact for service users, providing advice, advocacy, and guidance throughout the adaptation process.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Enhanced DBS (required before starting).
  • Minimum of two years’ post-qualifying experience in a local authority or similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment provision, adaptations, and relevant legislation.
