Graduate Temporary Works Structural Design Engineer

Location: Greater Manchester

Salary: Up to £30,000 (Dependant on industry experience - Will consider recent graduates or someone with a couple of years’ experience.)

Are you a recent engineering graduate with a passion for structural design and a keen eye for detail? We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist provider of ground support systems for the construction industry. This well-established business designs, manufactures, and supplies a wide range of temporary works and excavation support solutions that play a vital role in major infrastructure and building projects across the UK.

The Role
As a Graduate Structural Design Engineer, you’ll be joining an experienced in-house design team where you’ll work on a diverse range of temporary works projects. You’ll assist in producing safe, practical, and cost-effective structural designs while developing your technical knowledge under the guidance of senior engineers. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your academic learning in a real-world environment, supporting projects that shape the built environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the design of structural and geotechnical solutions for temporary works and excavation support.
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and technical reports in line with industry standards.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver practical design solutions.
  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement in engineering processes and design methodologies.
  • Ensure designs meet safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
About You
  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Must be a UK citizen (Sponsorship not on offer)
  • Strong analytical skills with a sound understanding of structural mechanics.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn with a genuine interest in temporary works and structural design.
  • Familiarity with design software and CAD tools is an advantage (training provided).
