Job Description
A forward-thinking special school in South Birmingham is seeking a passionate SEND Teacher to join their dedicated team, teaching Key Stage 3 and 4 students with a range of complex needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for a committed teacher who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
As a SEND Teacher, you will deliver creative and personalised lessons to small groups of students, many of whom have Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), communication challenges, and additional complex needs. Working closely with experienced teaching assistants, therapists, and the school’s leadership team, you will create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where every learner can succeed.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs.
- Supporting students with their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and specialist staff.
- Building strong relationships with students, parents, and external agencies.
- Promoting independence, resilience, and confidence in every learner.
- Maintaining accurate records of progress and contributing to reviews and planning.
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
- Experience teaching in a SEND or special school environment (desirable).
- Knowledge of strategies to support students with complex learning needs.
- Strong behaviour management and excellent communication skills.
- A genuine passion for working with children with additional needs.
