Teaching Assistant – SEMH School – South Birmingham
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people who have faced barriers to learning? This exceptional SEMH school in South Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide both classroom support and 1-2-1 tuition to students who need additional help to achieve their full potential.

The school provides a calm, nurturing environment where every learner receives personalised support and encouragement. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to create engaging, structured learning experiences that help students re-engage with education and build confidence.

Job Role:
• Provide classroom support to learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
• Deliver 1-2-1 and small group tuition sessions to help students overcome barriers to learning.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students to promote emotional wellbeing and engagement.
• Support teachers in managing behaviour and maintaining a calm, positive classroom environment.
• Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet the individual needs of students.
• Work collaboratively with staff to track and celebrate progress.

Requirements:
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs.
• Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain consistent, supportive relationships.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to behaviour management.
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience).
