Job Description

School Receptionist – Secondary School, Birmingham - Term-Time +4 Weeks 
We are looking for an experienced School Receptionist to join a friendly and welcoming secondary school in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong administrative and communication skills who enjoys being at the heart of a busy school environment.

As the School Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for students, parents, staff, and visitors, providing a professional and efficient front-of-house service. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a school environment, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting. Previous school receptionist or school admin experience is essential for this role. 

Job Role:
  • Acting as the first point of contact for all visitors, parents, and external agencies.
  • Answering and directing phone calls, responding to emails, and managing general enquiries.
  • Supporting the school’s administrative team with day-to-day office duties.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Managing sign-in systems and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed for all visitors.
  • Liaising with staff and students to support smooth day-to-day school operations.
  • Providing excellent customer service in line with the school’s values and ethos.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a School Receptionist or in a school administrative role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SIMS or similar school management systems (desirable).
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A positive and professional attitude with a commitment to supporting the school community.
  • An enhanced DBS check is essential for this role.
