Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant required to provide 1-2-1 and small group support for students with moderate learning needs. This welcoming school in South Birmingham is looking to add a compassionate and patient Teaching Assistant to the team to support children who have a primary diagnosis of Autism, this role requires a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, and previous experience supporting young people with special educational needs.

As a Teaching Assistant at this school, you will be joining a supportive team of Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and support staff who are committed to providing every child with an outstanding education, regardless of the barriers that they face. You will be supporting a class teacher and working closely with a team of class Teaching Assistants to provide targeted support on an individual and group basis.  This role requires previous experience as a Teaching Assistant as you may be asked to work independently. Job Role:

• Providing one-to-one and small group support to Key Stage 3/4 students with special educational needs
• Assisting the teacher in delivering tailored lessons to meet individual learning needs
• Supporting students with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
• Adapting learning materials and activities to ensure accessibility for all students
• Helping to create a positive and structured learning environment
• Working closely with the SENCO, teachers, and other support staff to promote student progress

Requirements:

• A Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
• Experience working with children with SEND, particularly in a special school setting
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students with complex needs
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations
• A commitment to inclusion and a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people
