Job Description
Are you a Maths Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity to support students who face barriers to learning? Do you want to teach small classes where you can build strong relationships and make a real difference? This SEMH school in South Birmingham is looking to appoint a dedicated Maths Teacher to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a supportive and structured environment.
As a Maths Teacher at this school, you will teach small classes of students who require additional support to engage with education. You will deliver accessible and engaging maths lessons that help students build confidence, develop numeracy skills and re-engage with learning. The school provides a nurturing environment with a strong focus on behaviour support, wellbeing and positive relationships, enabling both staff and students to succeed.
This role would suit a resilient and adaptable teacher who can manage challenging behaviour, build positive relationships and inspire students who may have had a negative experience of education. Previous experience working with SEMH needs or in an alternative provision is desirable but not essential.
Job Role:
- Teaching Maths to small classes of students with SEMH needs
- Planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
- Supporting students to re-engage with education
- Building positive relationships to support behaviour and learning
- Creating a structured and supportive classroom environment Working closely with support staff and pastoral teams
- Assessing, monitoring and recording student progress
- Encouraging confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning
- Teach small classes with strong staff-to-student ratios
- Work in a supportive and well-structured SEMH environment
- Be part of a dedicated and experienced staff team
- Receive ongoing support from leadership and pastoral staff
- Be paid to scale in line with experience
- Gain valuable experience working with SEMH needs
- Make a genuine difference to the lives of young people
