British Sign Language Teaching Assistant - Wandsworth

Are you a British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in a supportive school environment? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate BSL TA to support students with hearing impairments in a inclusive school in Wandsworth.
  • Position: British Sign Language Teaching Assistant (BSL TA)
  • Location: Wandsworth
  • Interview Date: Immediate
  • Contract: Full-time / Fixed Term with the potential for Permanent
  • Salary: £100 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)
The Role:
  • Supporting deaf and hearing-impaired students who may also have additional special educational needs (SEN).
  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students who use BSL.
  • Translating spoken language into BSL to aid communication in the classroom.
  • Assisting teachers in adapting lesson materials to meet students’ needs.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and social development in students.
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and speech & language therapists to create an inclusive learning environment.
About you:
  • BSL Qualification (Level 2 or above) – essential.
  • Experience working with deaf or hearing-impaired students in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support both students and staff.
  • Passion for inclusive education and helping students achieve their potential.
