If you are aiming for clinical psychology, this Psychology Graduate Academic Coach role gives you daily experience supporting pupils with complex needs in a specialist setting. You will help pupils access learning, build routines, and develop regulation and communication skills, while working closely with teachers and wider support staff to deliver consistent, structured support.
 
The Role
  • You will provide 1:1 and small group academic support across core subjects, matched to pupil needs.
  • You will help pupils regulate, stay engaged, and access learning through calm, consistent routines.
  • You will deliver targeted interventions in literacy and numeracy to close gaps and build confidence.
  • You will support behaviour for learning using agreed strategies, clear boundaries, and de-escalation.
  • You will adapt tasks so pupils can succeed without lowering expectations.
  • You will track progress and share clear feedback with teachers and the wider support team.
  • You will follow safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times and report concerns immediately.
 
The Candidate
  • You will have a 2:2 degree or above in Psychology (or a closely related subject).
  • You will have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
  • You will be calm, patient, and consistent, especially when behaviour is challenging.
  • You will communicate clearly and keep strong professional boundaries.
  • You will be reliable, proactive, and comfortable following support plans consistently.
  • You will have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or you will be willing to obtain one.
