Job Description

KS2 Graduate Teaching Assistant

Could you help pupils who are falling behind get back on track before they leave primary school? Are you looking for a classroom-based role that gives you strong experience ahead of teacher training?

*** KS2 Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** September 2026 – Academic Year placement
*** £107.06 - £111.31 per day
*** Primary school, Ward of Yardley
*** Provide 1:1 and small group intervention sessions to under-achievers

The Role:
Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group intervention for KS2 pupils who need extra academic support. You will focus on closing gaps in English and Maths, building confidence, reinforcing class learning, and keeping teachers updated on pupil progress. KS2 tests in 2026 are scheduled for 11 to 14 May, so schools often use structured intervention to help pupils improve attainment ahead of assessment.

The Candidate:
You are encouraging, organised, and able to explain things clearly to older primary pupils. You want practical school experience, you are comfortable working with children who need extra help, and you are keen to develop the classroom skills that will support a future move into teaching.

Requirements
  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.

The School:
This primary school in the Ward of Yardley offers a strong setting for a graduate who wants to make a visible impact through focused intervention. You will work closely with teaching staff in a role that gives you direct exposure to targeted academic support, pupil progress, and day-to-day KS2 practice. Primary education covers the educational, social, and emotional development of children aged 3 to 11, which makes this a strong foundation for teacher training.
