Job Description

Primary ECT

Are you looking for a permanent September 2026 role where you get proper ECT induction support (not just “good luck and a smile”)?

This Primary ECT opportunity is in a welcoming 3-form entry primary school in Wolverhampton. You’ll join a supportive team, follow a clear induction programme, and build confidence fast with coaching, mentoring, and practical guidance that actually helps you improve in the classroom.

*** Job Title: Primary ECT
*** Start Date: Permanent – September 2026
*** Pay: MPS1 – £32,916 per annum
*** Location: 3-form entry primary school, Wolverhampton

The Role
  • Teach a KS1 or KS2 class with structured ECT support.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned to the National Curriculum.
  • Use assessment to adapt teaching and drive progress.
  • Build strong routines, behaviour expectations, and a positive classroom culture.
  • Work closely with your mentor and phase leader to develop quickly.

The Candidate
  • A qualified teacher (or due to achieve QTS by September 2026).
  • Ready to commit to a permanent Primary ECT post and thrive with feedback.
  • Confident communicator with a calm, consistent approach.
  • Meets the minimum requirement of GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
  • Willing to complete an enhanced DBS check and follow safeguarding procedures at all times.

The School

  • Strong ECT programme with mentoring, training, and regular check-ins.
  • Supportive leadership team that prioritises staff development and wellbeing.
  • A friendly, collaborative culture where you’re not left to figure it out alone.

ECT Induction Support
  • A funded ECT induction programme across two years, with a named induction tutor and regular check-ins to keep you on track.
  • Reduced timetable (10% in Year 1 and 5% in Year 2) so you get protected time for planning, CPD, and observation.
  • Weekly mentoring with an experienced teacher, focused on your subject/phase, behaviour routines, and workload shortcuts that actually work.
  • A clear training and evidence plan mapped to the Early Career Framework, with bite-size targets and support if you hit a wobble.
  • Regular lesson observations and feedback (supportive, not “gotcha”), plus chances to watch strong colleagues and steal their best practice guilt-free.
