RGB are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering main contractor who is seeking an experienced MEP Design Manager to support a fast-moving civil engineering project in North Wales. This is a great opportunity for a highly capable design professional to provide technical leadership and drive the delivery of coordinated MEP design solutions. Due to the nature of the project we are looking for someone with experience of working on National Grid (NG) projects with an Understanding of TP/SR188 technical requirements.
Role Overview
You will oversee all Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health design activities, ensuring compliance, coordination, and technical excellence throughout the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, coordinate, and review all MEP design deliverables
- Validate and challenge consultant and subcontractor design submissions
- Ensure compliance with UK regulations, industry standards, and project requirements
- Lead design meetings and ensure effective communication with stakeholders
- Apply Principal Designer duties, including ERIC (Eliminate, Reduce, Isolate, Control) principles
- Manage design risks and maintain associated documentation
- Support value engineering, buildability reviews, and technical issue resolution
- Work effectively with BIM/CAD tools and document control processes
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ UK-based construction and design management experience
- Strong understanding of Principal Designer duties, including ERIC
- Proven background across MEP design and coordination
- Strong stakeholder and design management skills
- Digitally competent with BIM/CAD experience and familiarity with document control systems
- Experience on National Grid (NG) projects
- Understanding of TP/SR188 technical requirements
- Solid knowledge of UK building regulations and design standards
Desirable
- Chartered or working toward chartership (CIBSE, IMechE, IET)
- Experience within major infrastructure or energy-sector projects
