Senior Building Control Surveyor – Planning
Location: Newport
Contract: 7th April 2025 – 13 Weeks (Ending Approx. 6th July 2025)
Hours: 37 hours/week, Monday–Friday (Times TBC)
Pay: £20.31- £25.30/hour + agency support benefits

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead and train a team of Building Control Surveyors, allocating work and signing off decisions.
  • Manage major projects, including city centre redevelopments, ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Regulator.
  • Handle dangerous building control and demolition oversight, including out-of-hours emergency call-outs.
  • Promote Local Authority Building Control through marketing, partnerships, and events like the Building Excellence Awards.
  • Support court cases as a specialist witness and deputise for the Building Control Manager as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Skills: Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills, with expertise in fire engineering design.
  • Qualities: Proactive, customer-focused, and able to handle complex, high-stakes projects.
  • Experience: Significant post-qualification experience in building control, with competency validation (min. Class 2).
  • Qualifications: Full membership of RICS, M.B.Eng, MCABE, or equivalent (or working towards); recognised Building Control qualification (e.g., ONC, HNC, degree).
  • Bonus Points: Experience with ISO 9001:2000, marketing building control services, and court work.
