Salary: £16,000-£17,000 - Actual salary (already pro-rated), dependent on qualifications and experience

Our client, a specialist education provider, is seeking Support Staff / Teaching Assistants to join their trauma-informed team working with children with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching staff in delivering high-quality education to children on a 2:1 or 1:1 basis
- Plan and deliver structured interventions tailored to individual student needs
- Follow guidance from senior staff to implement daily routines and educational activities
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and families
- Maintain a safe, organised, and welcoming learning environment
- Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour using trauma-informed strategies
- Liaise with schools and external agencies as needed
- Report safeguarding or health and safety concerns immediately
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all policies and procedures
- Have at least 1 year of experience working with children or families with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
- Are confident managing challenging behaviour and setting clear boundaries
- Understand trauma-informed practice and the emotional needs of vulnerable learners
- Are excellent team players with a positive and proactive attitude
- Prioritise safeguarding and can respond quickly to incidents
- Are committed to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equality
- Build strong professional relationships with colleagues, families, and external partners
- Term-time only role (plus 3 days during school holidays)
- Enhanced DBS and two references required prior to placement
- Multiple positions available
- This role involves working directly with children who may present with challenging behaviour—confidence in behaviour management is essential
