Location: Cardiff
Employment Type: Temporary (3 Months, 07/09/2025 – 07/12/2025)
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:00)
Salary: £23.55 - £30.77 per hour 

Join Our Dynamic Litigation Team in Cardiff! Are you a skilled Solicitor or Barrister with expertise in Employment Law? Network Recruitment Wales is excited to recruit an Employment Solicitor to join the Litigation Team at a leading client in Cardiff. This temporary role offers a fantastic opportunity to provide expert legal advice, conduct litigation, and represent the Council in courts and tribunals, while contributing to a comprehensive legal service.

About the Role:As an Employment Solicitor, you will be based within the Council’s Litigation Team, delivering high-quality legal services with a focus on Employment Law, policy, and governance. You will also support civil litigation and assist with clerking education appeals during busy periods.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing expert legal advice on Employment Law to Council Members, Officers, and associated bodies.
  • Conducting litigation and acting as the Council’s advocate in courts, tribunals (including Employment Tribunals), hearings, and inquiries.
  • Drafting and negotiating contracts, agreements, and governance instruments.
  • Preparing legal documents and undertaking statutory or administrative tasks for Legal Services.
  • Managing disputes, complaints, and complex legal issues with professionalism.
  • Keeping up to date with legal developments and advising the Council on their impact.
  • Supporting senior staff and mentoring junior team members to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Contributing to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and health and safety legislation.
What We’re Looking For:Essential Qualifications & Experience:
  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a current practising certificate (or equivalent qualification with ability to practise).
  • Experience and knowledge of Employment Law (or ability to acquire quickly).
  • Practical knowledge of public law and experience in litigation.
  • Effective advocacy skills and excellent written and oral communication.
  • Strong drafting skills and ability to work as part of a professional team on complex issues.
  • Competent IT user (e.g., Microsoft Office, legal databases).
  • Commitment to continuous service improvement, equality, and diversity.
Desirable:
  • Post-admission experience in Employment Law at a similar level of responsibility.
  • Knowledge and experience of local government operations.
  • Willingness to undertake further training.
  • Full valid UK driving licence.

  • Ability to travel to various locations across Cardiff.
  • Required documents: Proof of eligibility to work in the UK, current practising certificate, Criminal Convictions Declaration, Confidentiality Agreement, 5 years’ references/work history, Health Declaration/Questionnaire, and Enhanced DBS.
