Are you a passionate and experienced Qualified Social Worker seeking a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference in children’s lives? We’re working with a supportive and dynamic local authority in the West Midlands to recruit a dedicated Duty Social Worker within Children’s Services. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced frontline team at the first point of contact for children and families, providing early help and protection when it’s needed most.
🔍 About the Role: As a key member of the Duty & Assessment Team, you’ll be at the forefront of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. You will:
- Undertake Child & Family Assessments, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
- Work closely with professionals across health, education, and police to achieve the best outcomes for children.
- Focus on early intervention and sustainable change, linking families to the right services at the right time.
- Use your professional knowledge to make informed decisions on risk, protection, and care planning.
- Apply best practice and current legislation in all aspects of your work.
👤 The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for a committed and skilled social work professional who is:
- âś… Registered with Social Work England
- ✅ Qualified (4+ years PQE) with significant frontline experience in Children’s Services
- âś… Experienced in child protection, duty & assessment, and multi-agency working
- ✅ Knowledgeable of relevant legislation and best practice in children’s safeguarding
- âś… A confident communicator with excellent mediation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- âś… Passionate about improving outcomes for children and supporting vulnerable families
- âś… Flexible, reflective, and resilient under pressure
đź› Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied caseload with autonomy and confidence
- Complete timely and high-quality assessments
- Develop and implement child-centred care plans
- Use specialist communication and analytical skills to support effective decision-making
- Offer guidance to students and unqualified staff where required
