Parking Permit Officer

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB 
To provide a high quality, responsive and cost effective Parking Permits Service which meets the diverse needs of the community and complies with statutory requirements, Council policy, guidance and codes of practice.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To be responsible for correctly processing applications for parking permits submitted by post and via the Web.
2. To be responsible for providing sound specialist advice on any aspect of the Council’s parking permit schemes to Members, senior managers, customers and colleagues.
3. To be responsible for providing members of the public with accurate information and advice in relation to the Council’s parking permit schemes and general advice in relation to any other parking or highway/transportation issues. This will include dealing with irate and/or distressed customers by telephone.
4. To undertake all aspects of permit administration, assessing and processing permit applications and taking decisions on their validity, exercising discretion where necessary, and advising applicants of the outcome in writing or over the phone.
5. To be responsible for accurately receipting payments, dealing with payment enquiries, reconciling and balancing at the end of the day and ensuring all financial procedures relating to permit issue and payments are adhered to.

CONTRACT 

• Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
•  Initially full time in the office and when up to speed there may be an option to do 2 days from Home.
• PAYE via Umbrella 
• Initial 3 to 6 month ongoing contract with the opportunity to extend
