Criminal Justice Adviser – Contract Opportunity
Location: West London
Contract: 3–6 months (ongoing)
Rate: £29.46 per hour (umbrella)
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days in the office

We are seeking an experienced Criminal Justice Adviser to join a busy Housing Solutions Service in West London. This role focuses on providing specialist housing advice and support to single homeless ex-offenders, helping to prevent and resolve homelessness following release from custody.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored housing advice and support to single homeless ex-offenders to prevent and relieve homelessness.
  • Act as the main point of contact between Probation Services and the Housing Solutions team, ensuring joined-up working.
  • Identify and assess support needs and make referrals to the appropriate supported accommodation pathways.
  • Assess suitability of ex-offenders for referral into the AfEO scheme.
  • Work with probation services and the AfEO Coordinator to develop and implement early intervention processes, ensuring timely support prior to prison release.
  • Assess, administer, and make statutory decisions on homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended), in line with legislation and case law.
  • Maintain the highest standards of customer care, empathy, and professionalism throughout casework.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience providing housing advice and homelessness prevention support, ideally to offenders or other vulnerable groups.
  • Knowledge of homelessness legislation and relevant housing policy.
  • Strong partnership working skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with probation services and housing teams.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and case management skills.
  • Empathy, resilience, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals.
