Grade: Band 5                        
Location: Hillingdon Hospital or Mount Vernon Hospital
Contract Type: Temporary / Fixed Term / Bank / Agency
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Daytime Only)
 
Role Purpose
  • The Estates Maintenance Multi-Skilled Technician is a key member of the Estates Maintenance Department, providing daytime operational support to ensure continuity of maintenance services.
  • This role has been established to support Working Time Directive compliance, specifically to provide cover where on-call technicians are unavailable to attend their normal working hours due to mandatory rest requirements.
  • The post holder will undertake a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks across mechanical, electrical, and building-fabric disciplines, ensuring systems remain safe, compliant, and operational.
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair faults on lighting, power, and distribution systems
  • Replace fittings, switches, and components
  • Undertake safe isolations in line with HTM guidance 
  • Carry out general repairs including doors, locks, ceilings, and finishes
  • Undertake minor joinery and fabric works
  • Monitor plant performance and alarms
  • Assist in maintaining environmental control systems
  • Provide clear updates on works and issues
  • Escalate risks or recurring faults appropriately

Requirements 
  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering
  • Completed apprenticeship or equivalent training
  • Multi-skilled capability across at least two disciplines
  • Experience in reactive and planned maintenance
  • Fault finding across mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Use of CAFM or electronic work-order systems
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
  • NHS or healthcare environment experience
